Where Łódź's Textile Story Comes to Life
The Central Museum of Textiles occupies one of Łódź's most remarkable industrial landmarks — the historic White Factory. Inside, the city's textile heritage meets fashion, design and contemporary art, creating a museum that feels much broader than its name suggests.
The story begins with Ludwik Geyer, one of the pioneers of Łódź's textile industry. The White Factory was built in the 19th century and became one of the city's earliest major industrial complexes. Its distinctive architecture and preserved industrial character make the building itself an important part of the experience.
From weaving machines to fashion
Inside, historic machinery and industrial spaces sit alongside exhibitions exploring clothing, textile art and design. The collections show how fabrics moved beyond the factory floor to become part of fashion, artistic expression and everyday life.
